JK Designs
Established in 2004 by Karen Gumkowski and Jean Dunning
Creative pursuits have always been a part of both their lives, launching a craft-oriented business is the perfect blend of their talents. Their eye for color and love of fine paper created a natural progression into the greeting card industry.
JK Designs creates original mixed media greeting cards, invitations, announcements and gift tags in their Cromwell, CT studio.
With a small line of twenty cards and a tank full of gas, they set off to share their designs with retail shops around Connecticut. As word spread, the business grew and continues to evolve daily. JK Designs' retail collection has surpassed 100 designs, with new ideas always waiting to begin production.
Meeting new faces in the business community is an integral part of their evolving business. They are members of the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce and the Micro Business Council, members of CCWF, Connecticut Central Women's Forum, Co-Chairpersons of MERG, Micro Enterprise Resource Group, members of the WBDC, Women's Business Development Center, have attended Business Network International, and have spoken to civic groups such as Hartford Civitans.
The adventure continued with the addition of a business line, geared specifically to help businesses connect with their customers. They enjoy each new challenge customizing a design for their corporate clients.
Jean and Karen's attention to detail is evidenced in the unique embellishments that decorate each card or gift tag. They enjoy helping people celebrate life's moments through their greeting cards. Each mixed-media card is designed and made entirely by hand in their Cromwell, CT studio.
